About this course
A hands-on course that turns an automation suite into a production-grade CI/CD pipeline, the way Indian product and service companies expect from Automation QA and SDET engineers. You build one project, qa-ci-demo, and take it through Git and pull requests, Linux triage, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Docker and Selenium Grid, secrets and test-data management, and quality gates. The capstone is a public, portfolio-ready repository with a green pipeline, live reports and failure alerts.
What you will be able to do
- Use Git confidently: branch per ticket, resolve merge conflicts, rebase and undo safely.
- Ship test code through reviewed pull requests with branch rulesets, CODEOWNERS and Conventional Commits.
- Triage failed runs from the command line with grep, awk, curl, environment variables and SSH.
- Write GitHub Actions workflows with PR, push, nightly and manual triggers, browser matrices, caching and report artifacts.
- Build a parameterized, scheduled Jenkins pipeline that publishes JUnit, HTML and Allure reports and sends alerts.
- Containerise a test suite and run an app, Selenium Grid and tests together with Docker Compose.
- Keep pipelines trustworthy with per-environment config, secrets management, self-cleaning test data and flaky-test quarantine.
- Enforce coverage and SonarQube quality gates, report meaningful QA and DORA metrics, and publish a complete CI/CD capstone on GitHub.
Syllabus

▶
1. DevOps & CI/CD for Testers: Where Tests Live in a Pipeline Understand CI, CD and DevOps from a tester's seat, map test types to pipeline stages and quality gates, and build the qa-ci-demo project with a local fail-fast pipeline script.
-
🔒
2. Git Essentials for Testers: Branch, Merge, Rebase & Resolve Conflicts Put the qa-ci-demo test project under Git, work on feature branches, deliberately create and resolve a merge conflict, and use rebase and undo commands confidently.
-
🔒
3. GitHub Team Workflow: Pull Requests, Code Review & Branch Protection Publish the test project to GitHub, enforce Conventional Commits and branch rulesets, and ship a new test through a reviewed, squash-merged pull request.
-
🔒
4. Linux & Command Line for Testers: Logs, grep, curl, Env Vars & SSH Analyse application logs with grep and awk, drive REST APIs with curl and jq, write an exit-code-aware health check, configure tests through environment variables and set up SSH keys.
-
🔒
5. GitHub Actions for Test Automation: Triggers, Matrix, Caching & Artifacts Write production-style GitHub Actions workflows that run Playwright API and cross-browser UI tests on PRs, schedules and manual triggers, with caching, artifacts and required status checks.
-
🔒
6. Jenkins for QA: Jenkinsfile, Parameterized Nightly Regression, Reports & Alerts Run Jenkins in Docker, compare freestyle and pipeline jobs, and build a parameterized, scheduled Jenkinsfile that publishes JUnit, HTML and Allure reports and sends e-mail/Slack alerts.
-
🔒
7. Docker for QA: Containerised Test Suites, Selenium Grid & Docker Compose Use containers as disposable test environments, write a cache-friendly Dockerfile for the Playwright suite, and run OWASP Juice Shop, Selenium Grid and pytest tests together with Docker Compose.
-
🔒
8. Test Environments, Test Data, Secrets, Feature Flags & Flaky-Test Quarantine Make the pipeline trustworthy: per-environment config with dotenv, secrets in GitHub, self-cleaning API test data, flag-aware tests, separate smoke/regression jobs and a disciplined flaky-test quarantine.
-
🔒
9. Quality Gates & Metrics: SonarQube, Code Coverage, Test Reports & DORA Enforce coverage thresholds with Jest, run SonarQube locally and in CI with a blocking quality gate, choose meaningful test metrics and compute the four DORA metrics from deployment data.
-
🔒
10. Capstone: End-to-End CI/CD Pipeline for a Test Automation Framework Combine Git workflow, Docker, GitHub Actions, reports, secrets, quarantine and Slack alerts into one portfolio-ready pipeline for qa-ci-demo, assessed with a 100-point rubric and published on GitHub and LinkedIn.
