About this course
A practical, simulation-based course that puts you inside a Scrum team testing ShopEasy, a sample e-commerce app, using a free Jira Cloud site with Xray and Zephyr Scale trials. You refine stories, design and execute tests, log and triage bugs, build JQL dashboards, wire BDD automation results into Jira, and run two full sprints from planning to retrospective. You finish with a portfolio-ready project you can show on GitHub, LinkedIn and in interviews.
What you will be able to do
- Explain Scrum roles, events and artifacts and contribute as a tester in every ceremony, including DoR and DoD.
- Set up a Jira Cloud Scrum project with epics, stories, QA workflow columns, a Severity field and sprints.
- Refine user stories into Given/When/Then acceptance criteria and include testing effort in story-point estimates.
- Design test cases and manage them in Xray and Zephyr Scale with full requirement-to-test-to-defect traceability.
- Write professional bug reports, separate severity from priority and run a triage meeting.
- Write JQL, build shared dashboards and calculate defect density, leakage, DRE, reopen rate and burndown insights.
- Automate acceptance criteria with Cucumber and publish results to Xray from GitHub Actions.
- Run two complete sprints with a Test Summary Report, sign-off and retrospective, and present them as a portfolio.

2. Jira Cloud Setup: Scrum Project, Issue Types, Workflow, Board and Backlog Create a free Jira Cloud site and configure a real ShopEasy Scrum project with epics, stories, QA workflow columns, a Severity field and Sprint 1.
-
🔒
3. User Stories, Acceptance Criteria (Given/When/Then), INVEST, Three Amigos and Estimation Turn vague ShopEasy stories into testable stories with Gherkin acceptance criteria, run three amigos and example mapping, and estimate with testing effort included.

🔒
4. Test Scenarios, Test Cases and Test Management with Xray Design scenarios and test cases from ShopEasy stories and manage them in Xray with Tests, Preconditions, Test Sets, Test Plans and Test Executions.
-
🔒
5. Zephyr Scale Alternative and the Traceability Matrix (Requirement → Test → Defect) Manage ShopEasy tests in Zephyr Scale with folders, parameterised cases and test cycles, compare it with Xray, and build a bi-directional traceability matrix.
-
🔒
6. Bug Life Cycle in Jira: High-Quality Bug Reports, Severity vs Priority and Triage Find real defects in the ShopEasy demo, log professional bug reports in Jira, decide severity and priority, run a triage meeting and walk bugs through their life cycle.
-
🔒
7. JQL Mastery, Filters and Dashboards for QA Metrics Write real QA JQL queries, save and share filters, build a ShopEasy QA dashboard, and calculate defect density, leakage, DRE, reopen rate and burndown insights.
-
🔒
8. BDD with Cucumber/Gherkin and Linking Automated Results to Jira (Xray REST and CI) Automate ShopEasy acceptance criteria with Cucumber and Playwright, then push JUnit and Cucumber results into Xray Test Executions from your machine and from GitHub Actions.
-
🔒
9. Sprint Simulation: Planning, Stand-ups, Testing, Regression, Sign-off and Retrospective Run a complete compressed ShopEasy sprint in Jira and Xray, from planning and stand-ups through testing, regression and sign-off to a Test Summary Report and retrospective.
-
🔒
10. Capstone: Run a Full 2-Sprint ShopEasy Simulation in Jira and Publish Your Portfolio Run two complete ShopEasy sprints in Jira with Xray, bugs, dashboards and CI-driven BDD results, score yourself on a rubric, and publish the evidence on GitHub, LinkedIn and your resume.
